Get up to €2,500 toward your new website
The Trading Online Voucher is a Local Enterprise Office grant that covers half the cost of getting your business trading online. If you employ fewer than ten people, you may be eligible — and most Irish business owners have never heard of it.
What it actually means for your budget
The voucher works on matched funding. Your Local Enterprise Office pays half of your approved project cost, up to €2,500, and you pay the other half.
A €1,000 project → you pay €500, the grant covers €500
A €2,450 project → you pay €1,225, the grant covers €1,225
A €5,000 project → you pay €2,500, the grant covers €2,500 (the maximum)
Because the grant matches what you spend, a very cheap website leaves most of the money unclaimed. It is worth scoping the project you actually need rather than the smallest one that qualifies.
Do you qualify?
You will need to meet all of the following. Your Local Enterprise Office makes the final decision.
- Fewer than 10 employees — measured as full-time equivalents.
- Turnover under €2 million a year.
- Trading for at least 6 months before you apply.
- Little or no existing online trading — the scheme is for businesses getting online, not those already selling well online.
- Based in the area of the Local Enterprise Office you apply to — for us that is usually LEO Dublin City, Fingal, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown or South Dublin.

Common questions
How much is the Trading Online Voucher worth?
Up to €2,500. The scheme is matched funding at 50%, so to receive the full €2,500 your approved project needs to cost €5,000, of which you pay half.
Can I use the voucher for a brand new website?
Yes. Website development is a core approved use, alongside online booking systems, payment facilities, app development and digital marketing. Online advertising cannot make up more than 30% of your other approved costs.
Do I really need three quotes?
Yes. You must get quotes from three different providers and submit evidence of all three with your application. We are happy to be one of them with no obligation to choose us.
Do I have to pay first?
Generally yes. The voucher is claimed back against invoices once the work is done, so plan for the full cost up front and treat the grant as a rebate.
Are sports clubs and community groups eligible?
Usually not. The scheme is aimed at trading businesses, so most clubs and voluntary groups fall outside it. We work with plenty of clubs and price that work separately — talk to us and we will point you at the right option.
What if I already had a voucher?
Terms around second vouchers have changed over the years and vary by office. Ask your Local Enterprise Office directly — they will tell you where you stand.
